Collection: Bootleg Action Figures [WINTER 2021]

For everyone who grew up coveting rare and delicate original Star Wars figures, an entire world of options has emerged: raw with irony, accessible, rooted in pop culture - and no longer linked to Lucasfilm. The undisputed godfather of 'Bootleg Action Figures' is the SUCKLORD, profiled in the New York Times, and auctioned at Christies. From his workshop in Chinatown, he blazed a path into the future, using the tools he had available: theft, humor, and resin. By combining pieces from existing figures, he took on the empire with his now famous GAY EMPIRE, but that was just the beginning. For half a decade, he pushed his way into pop culture and politics, and at the end of the decade, something amazing started to happen: people started bootlegging him.

Now an entire world has arisen, which lends context and insight into the phenomenon, and offers many chances to own original art. With a little help from our friends, a peek inside the collection, and an introduction to a local artist, this is our BOOTLEG TOY SHOW. It's just a peek inside a much larger world - bootleg toys have invaded social media en masse - but it's a good place to start. From the Simpsons to Chewbacca, and with a spin around real life and 2020, these are special.

All of the action figures are hand painted, in an edition of 30 or less, and the majority are signed, with printed and hand-embellished cards. We're also presenting a selection of 1/1 original 'bootleg' art pieces by local artist Nikster - in their case they are entirely sculpted and painted by her... including the packaging. Finally, we're putting out a handful of very rare, original Sucklord pieces, including unique Suckpanels. This might be your only chance to find an original Gay Empire or ABYDGTF... from 2005!
