From 1996 to 2014 Stern Fotografie was a quarterly magazine aimed at "photographers and photography enthusiasts with a sense of the great expressiveness of the still image". In each issue, the magazine featured one of the world's most famous photographers.
The magazine was initially available as a booklet in A3 format. But from issue no. 51 it was available as hardcover. Limited to 10,000 copies per issue, numbered consecutively.
